A monthly cabaret variety night featuring Australia’s most intriguing professional and emerging burlesque, vaudeville, comedy, music magic and cabaret performers.

During a trip to New York in 2008, producers Jac Bowie and Jon Wright enjoyed a series of cabaret dinner shows and came back to Australia inspired.

With a wealth of successful events behind them including The Burlesque Ball and Dr Sketchy’s Anti-Art School, Jac had been looking for a regular concept that showcases not only Burlesque performers, but a wide range of Artists that all fit into the genre of good old fashioned cabaret, and also allowed the audience to enjoy a beautiful dinner whilst comfortably watching the show.

The Ruby Revue was born.

Since it’s small beginnings in The Supper Club, The Ruby Revue has now grown into a huge hit for Sydney audiences and is now in residence at the magnificent Verge Bar at The Arthouse Hotel in Sydney, each month selling out, sometimes months in advance. In July 2009, The Ruby Revue also commenced in Melbourne (firstly at The Thornbury Theatre, and now at the more central location of The Comics Lounge in North Melbourne).

The show has featured in Time Out Magazine, The Sydney Morning Herald, and loads of other media, each giving glowing reviews of the range, quality and generally praising the event as the top event of it’s genre, with Time Out naming the event as Sydney’s Number 1 Burlesque show in 2009.

The Ruby Revue is a completely different show each month. We are continuously seeking new talent to keep the show fresh for audiences. Over the past year we have had a range of acts including musical, burlesque, magic, circus, pole, comedy and even card ninjas. It truly is a mix bag!

In late 2009, we also have added a resident band to the lineup in both events, The Nitro Rockers (rockabilly band) in Sydney, and The Cairo Club Orchestra (swing big band) in Melbourne, giving guests even more entertainment for their dollar. With tickets ranging between $25 - $60 it’s not only a great night out, but affordable!

All acts are chosen to reflect the ambience of the night, and all acts are tasteful and suit audiences of all ages and walks of life. It’s simply good old fashioned fun!
