Dirty Martini

 

The International burlesque sensation, Miss Dirty Martini, is one of the most recognized names in new burlesque. 

 

Since the mid 1990's, Miss Martini has spearheaded the new burlesque revolution in New York City with her bawdy humor, over the top physique and classical dance training in cabaret venues and night clubs such as The Slipper Room, the critically acclaimed VaVaVoom Room, Happy Valley, The Supper Club, and Joe's Pub among many others.

 

She has been featured in venues as diverse as Carnegie Hall and Broadway Bares to infamous New York City drag clubs where she has been featured in shows regularly and awarded a Glammy for her performances.

 

New York magazine calls her 'the Sexpot Sophisticate' and the NY Daily News described her performance as 'The decadent expression of female sensuality in action'.  The New York Times proclaimed her 'One of the best in burlesque' and the London Daily Telegraph ran an article entitled 'How I fell in Love with Dirty Martini' calling her 'the queen of them all!'. 

 

She holds the title of Miss Exotic World 2004, won the Jennie Lee award for tassel twirling in the same year, first runner up to Miss Exotic World in 2003, best fan dance at Exotic World in 2002, she headlined Tease-o-rama in 2005 and was named 'Best body in burlesque' at the New York Burlesque Festival in 2006.   Miss Martini is often featured at private corporate events such as Marc Jacobs annual Christmas Masquerade Ball, Karen Angel Jewelry, Mode Merr Fashion show, David Barton Gym, 24/7 Entertainment, Creative Time and the Miami Winter Music Conference among others.

A leading figure in the American burlesque revival, Miss Martini has become an underground celebrity and a favorite of the legends of burlesque who performed in the 1940's and 1950's.  She has headlined burlesque shows across the USA and as well as in Europe and has been featured in the following books:  'New Burlesque', 'Burlesque, the New Bump and Grind', and 'Burlesque from Gaslight to Spotlight'. 

 

She often performs with the hardest working middle aged man in showbiz, Mr. Murray Hill, among other weekly New York burlesque venues and she proudly performs every summer in Coney Island at 'Burlesque by the Beach'.  Miss Martini spent the entire summer of 2007 in Nantes, France performing for sold out audiences during the Estuaire Festival with The Cabaret New Burlesque and returned to the US in the fall to perform alongside comedian Margaret Cho in the Off-Broadway hit The Sensuous Woman. 

Miss Martini has taught her burlesque and fan dance technique in workshops for the Academy of Burlesque in Seattle and the School of Burlesque in New York as well as in Paris during the Paris Quartier d'Ete festival.  She has instructed Margaret Cho in her fan dance principles and taught a electric company worker to perform burlesque on American Movie Classic's reality show, Into Character.  

 

Look for her in the Scissor Sisters 'Filthy Gorgeous' music video and her very glamourous little cameo in John Cameron Mitchells's movie 'Shortbus'.   She appears in the Velvet Hammer Burlesque documentary as well as other independent films and television and magazine interviews regarding the history of burlesque and it's current revival in night clubs and theaters all over the world.
