Amelia Wood’s Mother Jeanette Luke was a showgirl in 60’s Sydney and named her second daughter after the great lady of the sky Amelia Airheart.
Her early Circus training began with South Australia’s premier youth circus Cirkids. Touring and teaching and performing circus to schools and community’s throughout South Australia.
At 19 Amelia set of to china in a sport and cultural exchange program where she discovered a passion for foot juggling. In 2005 Amelia graduated from the National Institute of Circus Art with a Bachelor of Circus Arts specializing in Aerial and foot juggling. In her final year Amelia performed in’New Breed’ directed by Brazilian circus maestro Rodrigo Matheus at the Sydney Opera House. Amelia also worked with Rodrigo as a swinging trapeze artist in ‘Love Happens’ as part of the cultural program for the Festival Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games. Amelia teaches Arial skills at Circus Unique in Sydney.
Hungry for more she debut as a Burlesque performer at Tiki Taboo. And has performed at the 50’s fair, the Marquee club’s Grindhouse, 34b’s Birthday with the Belladonna’s and the Elvis tribute night. Most recently has toured to Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney with Burlesque show The Absinth club.
