November. Always a time of mixed emotions for us. Our Australian shows end, and our girls commence their contracts in Germany. November is usually around the time I’m exhausted and need to take some time off, but now we have The Burlesque Ball in March, there ain’t much time for that – it’s in fact as busy as the rest of the year!
Having said that – our last show in Australia for 2009 is this Sunday in Melbourne at The Ruby Revue. It’s a great lineup and we are really excited to see the year out in such an exciting fashion! With special guests SUPERGIRLY, Mc Danny McGinlay, Frankie Valentine, Danica Lee + more – it should be a great night!
So we are off to Germany next month, visiting Catherine D’Lish, Honeylulu and Trixee Sparkle on Black Flamingo in the incredible Wintergarten in Berlin, and then off to Stuttgart to see Amber Ray, Vivi Valentine and Beatrix Von Bourbon on Sugar Blue. Can’t wait to see how the girls have settled into their 3 month life in Germany. I’ve heard glowing reports of the show.. and the pictures are amazing! If you are in Germany whilst the show, it’s a must attend!
Planning for the Burlesque Ball is in full steam ahead. We had a minor set back with a venue change in Melbourne, but not to worry, we have immediately had some interest from some incredible venues that of course are familiar with The Ball and really want to hold it with them. So we expect to announce a VERY exciting replacement soon. The main concern was the change was going to affect the current 150 ticket holders with their plans, travel plans and accomodation, so we hope that the new arrangements are as close to the original ones as possible. We do apologise sincerely to these guests for any inconvenience caused and hope you understand it was obviously out of our hands.
BUT! The media are going mad, and with good reason. If you have not seen our lineup this year, go check out www.burlesqueball.com – this years tour is the biggest and most impressive lineup Australian burlesque has ever seen. Miss Exotic World title holder JULIE ATLAS MUZ, 2009’s runner up ROXI DLITE, Australia’s queens of burlesque, IMOGEN KELLY & LOLA THE VAMP, the fastest US tassle twirler PEEKABOO POINTE, concerto pianist and UK star, CHRYS COLUMBINE, brash, bossy and downright fabulous host OPHELIA BITZ and Melbourne’s favourite SARAH LEA CHEESECAKE. The GAMBLE SISTERS return aswell as our cigarette girls. Never again will you see such a mix of the world’s top Burlesque stars, performing their biggest and most spectacular spectacles!
We are beyond excitement! And ticket sales have already been going through the roof – so make sure you book ahead!
Other news. I am allocating some time next year to finally write a book on Australian burlesque. I’ll be discussing the industry here in quite graphic detail, so it’s really exciting – so stay tuned for more news on that, and I have some more informative blogs in the works aswell.
xx JB
