FAQ’s
What should I bring with me?
Not all venues have ATMs- so it’s a good idea to bring cash. We have a full cash bar and there is also loads of opportunities to buy merchandise and programmes from the Cigarette Girls or Merchandise Tables. We also have a "silent" auction happening at the event which includes some fabulous vintage memorabilia – so if you are a collector you may want to bring a little extra!
What does my ticket get me?
Basically your ticket entitles you to entry into the show from 8pm with non-stop entertainment from 9pm – 1am. You will be entertained by a host of beautiful burlesque acts, tied together by your fabulous host and also have the opportunity to dance during the 2 sets from the band!
Can I take photographs?
Only approved photographers are allowed to take photos of the performances. If you wish to be considered as an approved photographer, please contact jac@jacbowie.com . All images will need to be emailed to us for unrestricted use and approved prior to your own use.
You are welcome to take pictures of guests, yourself and all your friends.
All of our performers have created new shows for this event and do not want images appearing that may be mimicked by other performers. They also don’t want any unflattering pictures or videos surfacing on the internet etc! The content of each performers show is owned by that performer and may not be photographed without permission. We will post all of our official images on this website as soon as possible for you!
What is the format of The Burlesque Ball?
The Burlesque Ball is a cabaret show that showcases the best in Australian Burlesque – all tied together by our MC. During the evening you will see a variety of shows and also be entertained by our live band and DJ’s to a mixture of swing, jazz and big band music. There are also opportunities for audience participation – so aspiring Burlesque performers be prepared!
How is the room set up?
Once you purchase your tickets you will be able to watch the show from any section of the venue. This year there is no VIP so all ticket holders are free to move around. There is a mixture of standing area, lounges and bar tables and people may also use the dancefloor during intermission and after the show when the music takes off!!
What is the dress code for the night?
All guests are required to dress in black, red or burlesque. Most ladies generally wear corsets, fishnets, beautiful hats and fascinators however anything that fits the colours and has an elegant or vintage feel is usually suitable. Men usually go the top hat or gangster look. Please also see our Sponsor and Best Dressed pages for more information on this. We also send out recommendations to our Mailing List.
What is the general vibe of the night?
The Burlesque Ball appeals to people of all ages and walks of life. We have burlesque lovers, pin-up models, rockabilly lovers, swing dancers, gothics – but then also single people, corporates and married couples. It’s a very sophisticated event that is very beautiful and absolutely non offensive or sleazy. It’s just a beautiful night similar to a night in 1940’s Paris..
